Increased economic productivity
While legislation to promote work style reform was enacted in 2018, TOREI's processing and logistics sites face the challenge of a shortage of workers to carry out some of the work, which is physically demanding in low temperatures. As technological innovation continues to progress in areas such as IoT and AI, we will proactively introduce technologies that can be utilized to create a safer working environment by reducing the number of people and labor required for on-site work, as well as to improve business efficiency across the company, thereby aiming to increase economic productivity and corporate value.

work remotely
Since more than half of our employees work on-site at factories and other locations, we have not previously implemented a work-from-home system. However, taking advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic, we introduced a trial work-from-home system in December 2020, interviewed each department about the advantages and disadvantages of working from home, and have since fully established and put into use a work-from-home system since January 2022.
Digitalization
TOREI has been promoting digitalization in recent years. In 2021, a system will be established that will allow documents to be stamped and circulated on a PC. We have achieved efficiency in many areas, including accommodating working from home and going paperless. By fully implementing cloud services, we aim to improve business efficiency through information sharing and functional integration by consolidating functions that previously required separate systems into a single platform.
Mechanization
Frozen tuna is hard and heavy, and the processing equipment used is often large and powerful, making the processing process dangerous, with dozens of work-related accidents occurring every year. For this reason, we are currently working with a manufacturer to develop machinery to mechanize the frozen tuna processing steps of "peeling the tuna" and "cutting it into quarters."By mechanizing processing operations, we can expect to improve production efficiency by having our limited personnel perform tasks that can only be performed by humans.
KAIZEN Activities
TOREI has introduced KAIZEN activities since 2021 in order to "create a company that can take more proactive action toward and achieve business reform."This activity is a system that recognizes business improvements achieved through employees' "ideas, ingenuity, and effort" according to the uniqueness of the results and content. The winners of the President's Award, Executive Officer Award, and Division/Location Manager Award will be selected.
